CALIBRATION / METROLOGY
| Services Fees | Method of calibration | Application Procedure | Contact |

Metrology, the art of measuring, is an essential part of standards, technical regulations and conformity assessment procedures.
Metrology includes all aspects both theoretical and practical with reference to measurements, whatever their level of accuracy and whatever field of science or technology they occur.

Realizing the needs for the technical infrastructure for the tractability of measurements, the metrology laboratory was first established in 1987 as a unit within the Laboratory Services Division of the Sri Lanka Standards Institution. The activities were then further expanded in early 1990 and the metrology unit became an independent division of the SLSI in 1996. Since its establishment, the division of metrology has made an ongoing contribution to dissemination of measurement standards throughout the country by providing an industrial calibration service. Training programmes could be arranged on request.

Application Procedure

When requesting calibration and other technical services, the client should provide details of the equipment's intended use/application and the calibration required. We have designed a special form, FM/DM/04, for this purpose. Clients are kindly requested to fill this form when requesting for calibration services thus saving themselves and the laboratory of considerable time and expenses.
